Master Mary

This morning, Chris and I headed over to The Tractor Room, which is owned by the same guys who own Hash House A Go Go. If you’re a San Diegan (or my parents or Chris’s dad or Chris’s Nana or my friend Kim), then you’ve been there before, or you’ve at least heard of it. It’s like no other place I’ve ever been…the portions are so ridiculously big, that both restaurants need super-sized dishwashers in order to accommodate the extra large dishes and silverware they have to use. Plus, the food is bomb dot com…Claim Jumper cannot even compare.

Chris and I have been to Hash House several times, but never to The Tractor Room. A few months ago, I heard one of my favorite radio DJs talking about the Bloody Mary she had gotten there. Apparently, they served a piece of steak in it. I reported this information back to Chris. It was quite obvious we had to go try it out.

Sorry for the crummy quality of the picture; it was taken via cell phone. However, allow me to paint a picture of this fine breakfast salad with a straw for you: It begins with a healthy quantity of Belvedere Vodka. Then it gets The Tractor Room’s homemade Mary sauce. Then they stick in a skewer of filet mignon, cooked rare. Then they serve it to you on a platter, with more sauces, plus green beans, plus BLUE CHEESE STUFFED OLIVES. We about flipped our lids.
I don’t care that it was $20. It was served with my favorite brand of vodka and, umm, a piece of friggin steak! It was sooo worth it. Plus I didn’t need to eat breakfast, so I think that’s pretty economical, right?

Did you pass out / have a heart attack after?

Actually, if I remotely liked bloody mary’s (maries?) I’d probably appreciate this…
