To change gears from the doom and gloom I’ve been bringing lately, I thought I’d talk about movies! Fun movies! Holly recently posted a list of the movies she (and Garrett) could watch whenever they’re on TV, even if they’ve seen them 100 times, own them on DVD (or VHS, no judgment), or have them saved on the DVR (ahem…who’d do that?)
Here’s my list (which was actually really hard to keep to only 10 items. I need sub-categories here or something.)
1. Clueless
2. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
3. French Kiss
4. You’ve Got Mail
5. Almost Famous
6. Tommy Boy
7. Back To The Future
8. The Godfather
9. Pulp Fiction
10. Empire Records
What are your watch anytime movies?
So just about everyone who commented on my post included You’ve Got Mail. Can you believe I’ve NEVER SEEN IT? That’s embarrassing. I have actually only experienced a limited amount of the Meg Ryan oeuvre. I think this makes me un-American or something.
There are probably about 30 more of these that I can’t remember at the moment but here are mine.
1. American President
2. Center Stage
3. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
4. Almost Famous – it’s been on a LOT lately
5. Spies Like Us
6. Blues Brothers
7. Anchorman
8. Shawshank Redemption
9. Miracle
10. Rudy
In no particular order:
Twelve O’clock High
The Day the Earth Stood Still (original)
American President
Casablanca
Dirty Dancing
Gentlemen Prefer Blonds
2001-A Space Odyssey
Forrest Gump
Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner
M*A*S*H*
i commented on holly’s, too, but mine are: titanic, how to lose a guy in 10 days, selena, notting hill, walk the line, four weddings and a funeral, steel magnolias. definitely definitely CLUELESS.
oooh. I love this. Mine are:
Overboard
Witness
Troop Beverly Hills
When Harry Met Sally
American President
Stepmom
The Blindside
The Holiday
It’s Complicated
Something’s Gotta Give
As Good As It Gets
Super Troopers
Frequency
Pulp Fiction
Lucky Number Slevin
Almost Famous
(& probably a dozen more that aren’t appropriate to watch in front of my parrot child)
Fried Green Tomatoes
Annie
Labyrinth/Dark Crystal
Fifth Element
Stardust
Finding Nemo/Monsters Inc.
I love this topic! Mine are:
– You’ve Got Mail
– Sabrina (the newer one with Harrison Ford – positive associations with this movie are probably part of the reason I have a kid named Linus)
– Love Actually
– Mean Girls (pre-trashy Lindsay Lohan, waaaaah!)
– Center Stage
– Legally Blonde
– Two Weeks’ Notice
– How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
– When Harry Met Sally
– Pitch Perfect (this is a new addition but I’m pretty sure it’s here to stay)
Also, gee, you think I have a preferred genre much? That’s kind of embarrassing.
The Devil Wears Prada
Legally Blonde
My Best Friend’s Wedding
You’ve Got Mail
Clueless
The American President
And I’m drawing a blank.
OK in no particular order the films I will always always watch no matter what are:
1) The Rock
2) Steel Magnolias
3) Die Hard
4) Love Actually
5) Anchorman
6) Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby
7) Dirty Dancing
8) Sliding Doors
9) Elf
10) Dogma
I guess I really like chick flicks and violent action films with a sprinkling of comedy thrown in for good measure!
This is fun & I see a lot of my faves already posted (Ferris, Dirty Dancing, Clueless, Back to the Future, French Kiss)! A few that haven’t been mentioned that I’d add:
-Sleepless in Seattle
-Love, Actually (even outside of The Season)
-Trading Places
-Ever After (with Drew Barrymore, surprised I like it so!)
-With Honors or School Ties (Brendan at his best in both)
Oh! Talladega Nights, Steel Magnolias & Sliding Doors are also watch any timers! You all have great taste!
