Life moves pretty fast

LG will be a year old next month, which, exsqueeze me? When did that happen? Isn’t she still my little peanut baby?

WHAT HAPPENED TO MY PEANUT BABY???

At the same time, though, it feels like she’s been here forever, so I guess that’s just an evil little trick babies play, huh? Simultaneously making the world stand still and yet also fly by.

She scoots around — not crawling, mind you, just sort of shimmying — and I swear she does it just to get away from us because she has no real reason to move other than that.

Who’s there? Oh, just you guys again, huh? Lame.

She’s pretty much always been happy and smiling and very expressive, but recently she’s really starting to show her strong personality.

The daycare ladies tell me that she cops all kinds of attitude at school. If another kid steals her toy, she yells at them. If a kid gets up in her face, she puts her hand out and yells. She even sometimes obviously ignores people, which honestly, totally warms my heart. She looks like her dad, but has the personality of her mom and damn do I love an independent little lady.

She don’t take no crap from nobody.

She eats every single thing that is put in front of her. Beans, pasta, oatmeal, fish, eggs, bread, all fruits and vegetables, yogurt, quinoa, barley, ANYTHING. She shoves food in by the fistful and why shouldn’t she? She knows those cheeks are her claim to fame and they’re not going to grow themselves, right?

Chicken noodle soup with a big metal spoon. Running things like a wee little prison up in there. LG was probably on broth-stirring duty.

Her newest thing is saying, “Who?” with the question inflection and everything. “Who? Who? Who?”

Who?
You, that’s who!

Basically, she continues to charm and delight, even if after putting her down for a nap or bed, I collapse on the couch and sigh, “She’s a lot of work!” A lot of work, yes, but worth it, I’d say.

Eyeing my birthday champagne
Worth it, but no you can’t have my champagne, ya lush.

Aw, she’s a cutie pie! And not far behind my baby who just turned one on the 28th. He says “who” too, but I never thought of it as “who”. For some reason I thought he was “hoo”ing like an owl! I kind of feel silly now! It does go by so fast. I have another son who’s turning 5 this month, and it’s unbelievable to look at the younger one and think, “it wasn’t too long ago that you were this little!”. Just keep taking pictures!!

A YEAR?!? Holy shiznit. That’s crazy! She sure is gorgeous. It will be so much fun to watch her little personality continue to come out.

I can’t get over that newborn picture!

The cheeks! I just want to eat her up!

  6. It is hard to believe she’ll be a Birthday Girl in 6 1/2 weeks. Where does the time go? Everyone is right…she is just soooo beautiful. What a face!

SHUT YER MOUTH with this turning 1 yr business!!!! That blows my mind, Sarah, for real. Remember when we were both pregnant and sharing our secret baby names via email? WASN’T THAT JUST LAST WEEK!?
I love everything about this post, seriously- she makes me SMILE! Such a freakin cute face and I can tell by everything you’ve written that I already love her personality. Moriah is similar in so many ways and that whole independent lady-takes no crap from no one-business makes me proud yet also TERRIFIES me in regards to the toddler years. HA!
(I can’t stop looking at that first picture!)
