“Mind power, Swede. Mind power.”*

Since it was so fun last year (has it really been over a year? Wow) I thought I’d do the movie quote game again, this time with movies about Christmas/The Holidays/Movies I Always Associate With The Holidays.

Rules: Leave a comment identifying ONE movie quote. JUST ONE. Some of you are my movie quote soul-mates and could probably identify all the quotes. You know who you are.

Okay, let’s do this!

1. “Are you sure? Because it looks like he’s leaning.”

2. “Francisco! That’s fun to say! Francisco… Francisssssco.”

3. “Happy Thanksgiving. It’s your turn to say Happy Thanksgiving back.”

“Happy Thanksgiving back.”

4. “No, for three reasons. A) I’m not that lucky. 2) We use smoke detectors. And D) We live on the most boring street in America, where nothing even remotely dangerous will ever happen.”

5. “I did have an awful premonition I was gonna fuck up on the first day. Oh, piss it!”

6. “You used up all the glue…ON PURPOSE!”

7. “Six-inch ribbon curls, honey … SIX! INCHES!”

8. “Where are my Mary-Janes, Kate?”

9. “It means if you put on the suit, then you’re the big guy.”

10. “What does this song mean? My whole life, I don’t know what this song means. ‘Should old acquaintance be forgot?’ Does that mean we should forget old acquaintances, or does it mean we if we happened to forget them, we should remember them, which is impossible because we already forgot?”

* 11.

  1. Caitlin says:

Oh, this is riiiight up my alley, and you have managed to capture several of my all-time faves.

But I’ll start with the most obvious, given my twitter pic these days: #2 is Elf.

    I also know4, 5, 7, 8, and 9. And I feel very proud of that.

(What’s going on with your asterisked #11 there, friend?)

  2. #10 happens to be from my favorite movie ever (well, one of them, at least): When Harry Met Sally. Yay for movie quotes!

  3. Megan says:

#5 is Love Actually! I need to be watching that movie right. NOW.

  4. LizScott says:

While you were sleeping, WOOOO!!! (1)

  5. -R- says:

I think #7 is also Elf.

  6. Raven says:

    YESSSSS #11

    A CHRISTMAS STORY

    It’s A MAJOR AWARD

  7. MIriel says:

#3 is You’ve Got Mail. OBVIOUSLY.

    This is fun 😀

  8. Kerri Anne says:

Number 4 is Home Alone, and one of my all-time favorite Christmas movies.

“Is this toothbrush approved by the American Dental Association?”

  9. Arwen says:

Is #9 The Santa Clause? I’m fairly sure, but not 100%.

Man, I love Christmas movies. We’re about to put up our tree and then I am loading up our Netflix queue with movies to watch while sitting by it. I love this time of year.

  10. Tara says:

Well, I knew #s 2, 4, 5, and (I’m slightly ashamed to admit, just because this isn’t really a movie I consider a ‘must watch’ every year) 9. But those have already been identified. And #6 is from A Christmas Story, which is only the best Christmas movie, ever! Seriously.

    Best. Movie.

And now I have to watch all of the movies this weekend, just because…

  11. Jesabes says:

I watched #5, Love Actually while we put up the tree!

  12. I don’t know ANY of these. I feel like I fail at Christmas!

  13. MIriel says:

(answering a second time WITH PERMISSION, OKAY?) (can you tell I’m a middle child?)

#8 is The Family Man, right? “welcome to Earth…”

  14. Erin says:

#1, While you Were Sleeping. That is the movie that I would pick if I was only allowed to ever watch one movie again for the rest of my life. I look forward to it every Christmas (though I watch it probably at least once every two months the rest of the year too, it just feels more awesome at Christmastime).

  15. queencaren says:

Wow – I wish I’d seen this yesterday!

I know ALL of these with the exception of number #7.

So it’s got to be #6 – A Christmas Story. (You know how I feel about THAT movie.)
    Mind-power Swede.

  16. Mama Bub says:

Well, I’m so late to the party, but you’re my new favorite person as I knew, and love, most of these.
