Jumping on the bandwagon with the accent vlog.
If you want to play along, then…
Say these words:
Aunt, Route, Wash, Oil, Theater, Iron, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Water, Sure, Data, Ruin, Crayon, Toilet, New Orleans, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, Spitting image, Alabama, Lawyer, Coupon, Mayonnaise, Syrup, Pajamas, Caught
And answer these questions:
What is it called when you throw toilet paper on a house?
What is the bug that when you touch it, it curls into a ball?
What is the bubbly carbonated drink called?
What do you call gym shoes?
What do you say to address a group of people?
What do you call the kind of spider that has an oval-shaped body and extremely long legs?
What do you call your grandparents?
What do you call the wheeled contraption in which you carry groceries at the supermarket?
What do you call it when rain falls while the sun is shining?
What is the thing you use to change the TV channel?
I think you have a self-imposed accent. Under normal circumstances, probably no accent, but some of your words sound like you’re from somewhere else (toilet, both, Abalama :), oil).
Hi Sweets! How do you say “SCHOOL?”
Nope, no accent! I LOVE that there’s a Queen Karen being drunk story. That was funny!
I love this video. You are awesome. The explanations about why/how you say things crack me up!
No accent. But you do say “now” sort of funny. Like it rhymes with “meow.”
No accent. But you do say “now” sort of funny. Like it rhymes with “meow.” Also, this video seals it: I think we would be an awesome real-life duo.
I was pronouncing LG’s name correctly in my head! Woo!
You are so damn cute with your non-accent and drink. You sound just like I thought you would.
This is pretty much exactly how I expected you to talk! YOU THOUGHT IT WAS ANCIENT. I love it. LOVE it.
Where in the world did your “oil” come from? It seems so out of the blue given you’re otherwise “normal” (aka how I speak). 🙂 Parents, maybe? When did your family get to CA?
Leah: I’m not sure, but I think it comes from living in Bakersfield, where there’s a town north called Oildale. No one says it “Oy-ill-dale” but instead people say it how I say “oil,” plus “dale.” “Ohl-dale,” I guess.
Kate: Hahaha, like from Super Troopers?!

hahahaha, I love watching these! Jimaie did one a few weeks ago and I’ve been putting it off because I never have my hair done, but I just need to do it. You’re so cute! I’m in Fresno and pretty much everything you said sounds like me. Except oil, but the Oildale thing makes sense. I know allllll about Ohldale from Steph Corwin. 🙂 Also, I’m rambling, but one more thing, your hair is long and fabulous! End ridiculous comment.
Hahah. carmel is a place, not a word. The word is spelled caramel—it’s just pronounced differently. So people who say carmel still spell is caramel.
Also, you are adorable 🙂
