…When hearts like ours meet

What’s your song? You know…The song that makes you call your significant other and tell him, “Turn on 94.9!” when it comes on the radio?

Ours is Social Distortion’s cover of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire”

Oh HELLO THERE, Mike Ness. I mean Chris. HELLO THERE, Chris.

Although that’s “our song,” we actually danced to Etta James’s “Sunday Kind of Love” at our wedding. Phenomenal dancers though we may be, it is sort of difficult to slow dance to…Whatever it is “Ring of Fire” is.

When choosing a first dance song, I knew I wanted something from this genre, but not the obvious “At Last.” I randomly heard this song come on the jukebox at the bar where Chris and I met and that was it. Done!

So! What’s your song? And while we’re at it, what’s your sign? I’m an Aquarius.

Our song is “Just the Two of Us” by Bill Withers and I’m a Libra.

  3. Our song is “I Only Have Eyes for You” because it was the first love song my husband put on the first mix CD he ever made for me. Love love love.

I am a Pisces. Through and through.

We don’t have a song really but we danced to It had to be you at our wedding. We do have a lot of songs as a couple that we love. 12 years will do that, I like those songs the best, actually. Ones that have memories to go with them.
    I’m a cancer.

Capricorn, which is either spot-on or WAY OFF BASE, depending on who you ask.

Our first dance was to “Bless the Broken Road” by Rascal Flatts, because my NON-country music loving husband loved it. I don’t get it either. He said the words were exactly how he felt about me. But I loved our last dance so much more, to “18th Floor Balcony” by Blue October. It reminds me of our very, very beginning.

I just hollered at Garrett “Babe…do we have a song?” Spoiler alert: even after 6 years together we really don’t. We have albums that remind me/us of dating or shows that we saw together and had great experiences at, but no a song, per se.

Without missing a beat he hollered back “Tell her Vanilla Ice’s ‘Hooked’ is our song.” Such a romantic, that Garrett.

    Also — I’m a libra.

Double also — will we see you guys Sunday?

Our song is “Let’s Stay Together.”

I’m an Aquarius, too! Woot woot!

Our song is “Amazed” because we actually met (yes, in a country bar, shut up) when Jared asked me to dance to that song, so there was never a question.

  9. Kristen says:

Oh, but also, I think I should say our other song is “What’s Up Doc (Can We Rock)?” from the Shaq Diesel album because, shortly after we met, that song came on somewhere and it turned out we both knew the words. Seriously, who knows the words to that song? Clearly we’re meant to be.

That’s it…we’re soulmates. I”m also an Aquarius and happy to report that Ring of Fire is our song, too! (But the original Johnny Cash version.) Here’s why: On our first Cinco De Mayo together, my husband got absolutely smashed on $5 margaritas to the point where he thought it would be a good idea to get up onstage and sing with the band. (Thankfully, we knew them.) He requested to sing Ring of Fire. They played. He sang. All was well til he hit the second verse and forgot the damn words. He proceeded to look for me in the crowd, slurring “Baby! what’s the wooooooords?”
And then I married him. (several years later) Wow. That story kind of makes us song like werido drunk creepers. I promise we’re FUN creepers. 😉
