This past Saturday, Chris and I made a trip over to my favorite store, The Tar-jay. When we got there, we noticed that the parking lot was filled to the brim with police cars. San Diego, National City, CHP, La Mesa, Oceanside, there was no law enforcement entity in San Diego County that was not being represented by the pigs.
When we [finally] found a parking spot and headed into Target, we saw cops EVERYWHERE. Chris started to break out in a mild sweat and said that with all the cops around, he felt like he should be running. (After asking a Target employee what in the HECK was going on, we found out it was Shop With a Cop Day. Basically, underprivileged kids were paired up with a cop who had a $100 Target gift card to spend on them. A nice sentiment, yes, but show me a kid who really wants to be hanging out with the po all day.)
After we made it out of there, Chris relayed a story that I thought was pretty funny: One of his two younger brothers was riding with their older, wiser cousin and asked him at what age you stop being afraid of the police. His cousin responded with, “Probably when you stop breaking the law.”
And with that, I’ve decided I’ll never stop being afraid of the police. How about you?
